
About the Role
The Teacher supports the Lead Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director
Assist the Lead Teacher in planning of weekly themes, lesson plans and daily activities. Observe, record and assess each child's individual growth and development.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Actively engage in daily activities and routines with children.
Maintain frequent communication with parents and staff
Ensure compliance with all center requirements and North Carolina Department of Human Services rules and regulations.
Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Any other duties deemed necessary by Lead Teacher and/or Administration.
Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
Part-Time Teacher
GENERAL POSITION OVERVIEW
Assist in the implementation of weekly themes, lesson plans and daily activities.
Supervise activities of children and provide stimulating activities.
Maintain all certifications as required.
Ensure compliance with all North Carolina Department of Human Services rules and regulations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
At least 16 years of age.
Basic knowledge of safety and care practices for children birth to five years, or school age.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year experience working with children birth to five years, or school age, in a home or center setting.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Significant college credit in early childhood education or related field of study
CDA or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred.
One year of verifiable experience working with children birth to school age, in a center setting.
High energy and ability to work well with others
An understanding of child development
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening
